When should you register at SEM? When will your
classes start? When are your exams? How the
teaching sessions are distributed over the year?

Summer Session 2009

Month Days Details
June 2009 Mon 01 - Mon 15 Registration of all students for the SUMMER session 2009 (by phone or by email (check the website for details))
  Mon 22 - Tue 23 Entrance Exam for new students.
Every new student at SEM should be present in one of these 2 days at 7h30PM at the school (the student can choose the day that best fits his schedule) to pass a simple entrance exam.
Even students who are registering for the first level shall pass the exam to test their talent.
At these dates all schools’ and universities’ and official exams should be at their end.
  Wed 24 Posting on our website of classes final students' lists and teachers' names and dates of classes.
Students should check at this date on our website their names, in which classes they are registered, who are their colleagues in each class, who are their teachers, when will be their first classes.
  Mon 29 Starting Classes for Summer.
Starting from this date, all classes will begin. During the first class students will agree with their teachers in each class on the final dates of their following classes
July 2006 Thu 06 Posting of the final classes' schedule on our website.
September 2009 Wed 16 Exams of the summer session for level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
  Thu 17 Exams of the summer session for all levels other then level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
 

Notes

The Summer session consists of 11 weeks, hence it should include 1 additional exceptional meeting that is to be scheduled by agreement between the teacher and the students in each class. (i.e. in one of the weeks students will have 2 meetings.)
 

Summer Camp 2009

September 2009 Tue 01 - Tue 15 Registration of all students for the SUMMER CAMP 2009 (by phone or by email (check the website for details))
  Fri 18 - Sun 20 The Summer Camp starts on Friday 12 at 9AM and ends on Sunday 14 at 6PM at Deir Saidet Al Najat - Bikfaya.
 

Notes

This session constitutes a separate session. Students can be registered in the camp from outside the school. Yet, no students in level 1 shall be accepted.
 

Fall Session 2009-2010

Month Days Details
September 2009 Mon 28 - Fri 16 Registration of all students for the FALL session 2009-2010 (by phone or by email (check the website for details))
October 2009 Mon 12 - Tue 13 Entrance Exam for new students.

  Mon 19 Starting Classes.

January 2010 Wed 20 Exams of the session for level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
  Thu 21 Exams of the session for all levels other then level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
 

Notes

The session consists of 13 weeks; hence it has one additional meeting that can be missed usually due to Christmas or New year Holidays or to the preparations of the Nativity concert.
 

Winter Session 2010

January 2010 Mon 18 - Sun 31 Registration of all students for the WINTER session 2010 (by phone or by email (check the website for details))
February 2010 Mon 01 - Tue 02 Entrance Exam for new students.
Every new student at SEM should be present in one of these 2 days at 7h30PM at the school (the student can choose the day that best fits his schedule) to pass a simple entrance exam.

  Wed 03 Posting on our website of classes final students' lists and teachers' names and dates of classes.

  Mon 08 Starting Classes.
Starting from this date, all classes will begin. During the first class students will agree with their teachers in each class on the final dates of their following classes.

May 2010 Wed 05 Exams of the session for level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
  Thu 06 Exams of the session for all levels other then level 1. All exams shall be done in one day by a panel: Written then oral.
 

Notes

The Winter session ends with the beginning of May, at the beginning of the preparations for the exams of schools and universities.
The yearly long holiday at SEM is during May and June because of the schools and universities exams.
On the other hand, 1 meeting in this session will be missed during the Holy Week. So this session should include 1 additional exceptional meeting that is to be scheduled by agreement between the teacher and the students in each class. (i.e. in one of the weeks students will have 2 meetings.)
 

General Notes:

  • Every session is generally formed by 12 meetings. (3 months, 4 meetings by month.)
  • In case any meeting is rescheduled or missed for any reason, the students and the teacher should agree on an additional exceptional meeting in order to catch up on their program.


The Yearly Holidays

SEM classes shall stop during the following holidays:

  • The Holy week according to the Eastern Calendar,
  • During the months of May and June.
