interpretation of these maqams.

The derivative scales are explained theoretically with practical exercises to perform them in the different situations in which they appear.

Transposition is explained in details both theoretically and practically with written exercises.

Arab maqams are presented from a Byzantine perspective of an Antiochian composer. Examples of Byzantine usages of these maqams are provided.
